As television rapidly declines and is replaced by social media platforms and online viewing, my drawing practice begins to reflect this. The experience of scrolling endlessly, checking for updates, likes and comments was a totally new way of wasting one’s time. I record my digital footprint using smudges, rubbings, and scrawls. Where my television drawings always adopted a landscape format, the recording of Twitter Instagram and the like, takes on the portrait. In a digital world, the simplicity, the permanence of pencil on paper feels all the more pertinent.
